Residents of Atadeka, Washington and New York, all suburbs of Ashaiman in the Greater Accra region, Monday morning embarked on a massive demonstration to express their displeasure over what they describe as poor roads in the community.
According to them, they can no longer bear the bad nature of roads in the area hence their decision to demonstrate.
The agitated residents, numbering about 1000 blocked roads and burned tyres in apparent dissatisfaction of the state of their roads and called on relevant authorities to have their roads fixed.
According to some of the demonstrators, “Our roads have remained the same, since 1990. All you see on our roads are potholes. If Nana Addo doesn’t fix the road, we will vote in 2020.”
Another frustrated resident said:
”The government has neglected this area. It seems we are not part of the country. They know that the road is not good but they are not doing anything about it. Our MP should be removed from office. He has not been helpful.”
