CNN ‘10 Biggest African Stars’ list disrespectful – Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo

Entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo says CNN disrespected the entire entertainment Industry of Africa with the list of ‘ 10 Africa’s biggest music stars’.

The list which was published on CNN’s website has Nigeria’s Burna Boy leading while Benin’s Angelique Kidjo, Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz, Nigeria’s Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage follow in that order.

The 6th to 10th positions were occupied by Wizkid (Nigeria), Mr. Eazi (Nigeria), Sho Madjozi (South Africa), Busiswa Gqulu (South Africa) and Mwila Musonda (Zambia).

But the entertainment journalist responding to this in an article sighted by hopeghananews.com said, ”CNN’s list is shoddy, sub-standard and disrespectful. It is worthless!”

“Any listing that comes with no form of criterion or criteria is not a quality list and only causes confusion among those listed and unlisted as well as followers for both listed and unlisted.

“To be brusque, CNN’s list is shoddy, sub-standard and disrespectful. It is worthless! How can a person (s) sit, think, analysis and produce a list of the ‘Biggest Stars in Africa’, without attaching the reasoning that went into such a compilation?

“What is ‘big’? Is it about relevance, the level of activity, awards, influence or impact? What classifies an artiste as ‘big? It is simply not okay to just get up and put up a list just for the sake of it.” he stated in his article.
